I've removed from view all my facebook content and stopped all my feeds. The part that REALLY bothers me is that they have the right to sell, reprint or use my content and the content of anybody I link back too. Of course deleting my content does nothing, they still have it archived, but it made me feel better ie I no longer support Facebook.

I'm assuming this is all part of the new "Orphan" legislation that Google were talking about. Apparently those nice folks at Google are sitting, poised over their keyboards and just waiting to steal everyone's work off the net. Isn't society just wonderful?

Thus comes the end of Facebook. I'm glad I didn't put anything important on there.

I guess they can have my Random 25 Things meme and my links to BodyPump. I never put anything important on there anyway since it is too close to real life people that don't need to know much about me. I certainly won't be doing any sort of blogging there, now!

meh. I think it's pretty foolish of people to put anything too personal there in the first place. I post photos and send messages to people purely out of convenience, but there's nothing on my facebook that it would really bother me for them to have.

I think there will be some hype over this for a while, and if it gets too serious perhaps they will retract it.... But even if they don't, I don't think it spells the end for facebook or even close.

Sadly alot of people use Facebook for a more personal connection then other social media. 2 things bother me, 1) they changed it and told nobody and 2.) if I post a photo, and lets face it, 1000s of people do, that photo can now be used by anybody, anywhere because I just gave up all rights to it.

It creates a legal nightmare, who does it belong to? You or Facebook. Well I posted it on Facebook, giving them full rights so if you want it back Facebook will have to go to court to regain control of it THEN give it back to you.....not going to happen.

Now here is my paranoia raising its head, this means that smart thieves, when caught, will just claim they got it off Facebook, even if they didn't....

LMAO It didn't take them long to retract that ToS did it? Although I think it was a pretty dumb move on their part to tip their hand and say they are going to sell so blatantly.

ROTFL I completely missed this post! ><

Still, it didn't really bug me... I don't really use facebook for anything personal. However, people should always be careful with what they're putting on there as according to my lecturer (who is also the uni careers person) employers are checking facebook to see what prospective employees get up to before they hire them.

O.o What was facebook thinking, honestly.

I'm so glad I'm just a mild-mannered facebook user; any employer who checks mine will continue to think I'm completely harmless.

I know what you mean. If there's anyone I pity, it's the poor dumb hacker who goes to hours and weeks of bother to learn all of my secrets.

For years, I thought I was THE best, but I was eliminated in the quarterfinals.

In my last job ex employees got in trouble for posting up comments about work!

Employees do check whats going on Facebook. We can all say its private, but if you allow your bosses at work to be your friends, then they see what you get up to

One argument would be to say my private time outside of work is my business. Unfortuantely a lot of companies now seem to think they have the right to control what you do outside of work too. I personally dont think that should be the case

Since we keep bringing this post back to zombie status, I figured I'd post a sort of update for those of you who use (and who forced me to use) facebook

http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/news/2010/04/facebook-privacy-changes-get-senatorial-ftc-attention.ars

They recently changed some of the privacy options and defaulted shared information to showing to everybody, w00t w00t facebook
