This thread is for discussion of the book The Dragon's Path by Daniel Abraham, up to the end of page 283 in my trade paperback copy. (end of chapter "Geder")

So when Dawson suggested Geder as the Protector of Vanai, I was mad at Dawson for throwing Geder under the bus. And when Dawson declines Issadrian's offer, I think okay, maybe Dawson's not one of the good guys. But then Geder burns a city of 10000 people and I realize that maybe there are no good guys. Maybe no one is the hero in this book.

Can't wait to find out what Cithrin's plan from the bank books is. Hmmm, just realized her master probably burned.

Reading more tonight!

Holy crap! That was intense!

So Gerder is pure evil. Ok, so he didn't "mean" it, really, but he gave the order to burn up a whole city. He is so lost in his books that he has no idea what life is really like. I had such hope that he would prove himself a competent governor against all expectations. That's how it is supposed to go, right? That was really a sickening chapter to read.

And Dawson is a complete fool as well. I guess we are getting this book from the bad guy perspective.

Well, maybe Marcus and Cithrian aren't bad guys. I guess they both hold the whole wealth of Vanai in their hands with no one to be accountable too, unless they make it to Carson (or whatever the city was). Even then, what shall they do?

Anyone else think Master Kit is the apostate from the prologue?

I can't believe Opal betrayed them all like that. Really no good guys in this book, is there?

Can't wait to read more. How many books are supposed to be in the series, anyone know?

Yes... that was surprising. And shocking. I wonder what the king will do to Geder now. He can't be too happy when he hears about it.

Master Kit the Apostate... maybe, baby. There's definitely more to him than just an old actor.

And now I need to go close a window. Tack och hej, leverpastej.

And I saw this series referred to as a quintet somewhere.

Wow, way to be a freaking psychopath Geder. I hope he gets the homecoming he deserves.

In my first (or second) post I offered that Master Kit=the apostate, so if others get that feel too then maybe I am not too crazy. Of course, it's Caly who also has that feeling, so maybe not. ;-p

I think Master Kit is y favorite character so far. I was also surprised that Opal turned on them, but they are carrying a LOT of wealth.

I can definitely say the thought that Master Kit might be the apostate never once occurred to me. But apparently I'm the only one!
