This thread is for discussion of the book The Dragon's Path by Daniel Abraham, up to the end of page 424 in my trade paperback copy. (end of chapter "Geder")

I am still confused by Dawson and King Simeon. Is Simeon as weak and ineffectual as Dawson thinks or has Dawson picked the wrong path?

Hate that Cithrin is using sex as her weapon. Bah.

Like where the Geder storyline is going - the sear, the temple. Very interesting!

I could not believe Simeon didn't have some heads on pikes! They bring an invading army into the city, try to take over, fail by sheer dumb luck (who would have thought Gerder would be back from Vanai?), and they get a slap on the wrist? No wonder Dawson is so angry, even if his politics are vile to a modern readers sensibilities.

Cithrian. Oh, dear, girl. She opened up a can of worms, didn't she? I was sure she'd be caught, but I guess not.

That is the one great thing about this book. Just when I'm sure I know how it is going to go, it goes in a completely opposite way. Never in a million years would I have predicted the burning of Vanai. Nor would I have guessed the king would be such a yellow bellied coward even if the face of clear treason. I can't wait to see what other surprises the series holds.

Gerder's story is certainly picking up my interest. What are those spider goddess priests going to do to him?

i am still liking the book, but it seems to have lost some of it's momentum for me. Its a wonder the king has held onto power for as long as he has, given his weakness. Exiled and stripped of minor titles? Seriously?

Cithrin is also beginning a downward spiral.

I hope it picks back up!

I like Yardem. "I forgive you".

Yes! Yardem is definitely a good character. I like his relationship with pretty much everyone, but especially with Marcus and Cithrin in that order.
