I have read many of you do not watch alot of movies, but we live in such a terrific time for movies. Special effects have never been better, and there have been many fantastic sci-fi/fantasy films over the last decade.

Here is the trailer for Immortals, come on, its all shiny and stuff!!! Looks very cool.

plenty of us watch movies... I don't see many on the big screen, because I don't have a lot of time and money for it if it isn't going to be worth it - so I save it for the movies I really care about.

The trailer looks intriguing, but any comparison to 300 doesn't do it any favors for me. I recorded 300 on one of the movie channels, tried to watch it, and just couldn't get through even a quarter of it. But this does look better.

Right now I'm hopeful for some of these new tv shows, like Grimm.

I believe its from the producers of 300. Not sure about the style, but here is some info from the net;

This movie incorporates classical Greek myths filmed using 3D technology, necessitating extensive post production.[original research?] Director Tarsem Singh said that he is planning an action movie using Renaissance painting styles. He then goes on to say that he is "Basically, Caravaggio meets Fight Club. It's a really hardcore action film done in Renaissance painting style. I want to see how that goes; it's turned into something really cool. I'm going for a very contemporary look on top of that so I'm kind of going with, you know, Renaissance time with electricity. So it's a bit like Baz Luhrman doing Romeo + Juliet in Mexico; it's just taking a particular Greek tale and half (make it contemporary) and telling it."[8]

I'm looking forward to it. I actually loved 300 - it was a gorgeous movie. But it needed to be seen on the big screen, not the computer monitor. I think this one will be visually stunning, too, based on what I saw in the trailer a couple of weeks ago. And I love Greek Mythology, so unless it's just ALL fighting, I think I will really enjoy it.

but the movie I'm looking forward to the most is The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo!

You havent watched the Swedish version Julie? It was good i thought, gritty in that european cinema way.

I liked 300 as well.

I was watching 300 on my 46" TV - I could see the visuals were nice, but that's really not enough. The script drove me crazy...

The Swedish version of GwDT is available on Netflix Streaming - I watched the whole trilogy recently. I really liked them! I agree, very gritty, and dark. The trailer makes it look like the new one is pretty similar - hopefully they haven't Hollywoodized it too much *lol*
