I don't know. I don't like the way Qdawg's name is spelled.

It's actually spelled 'Kvothe'. I think you would like him...he is kind of a wise ass.

This link contains many awesome theories (and is therefore full of SPOILERS) for the story through The Wise Man's Fear. It summarizes a bunch of theories I have seen all over the internet in one place. Read at your own risk!

My bad on the spelling. I knew it was "K" but my brain wanted "Q" like the almost "quote" I hear in my head when I read it.

Great books, was eagerly awaiting this one coming out and really enjoyed it. As to Kvothes character, yeah, he's brilliant and arrogant and all, but that's fine. My only issue is his relationship with the main female (whos name escapes me at the moment). I know he's youg and all, and anyone can go crazy for a girl, but the book does take it to extremes. *shrug* A minor quibble.
I am curious how the series will end though. He's supposed to have done some amazing things, but by the end of book two he's still, in my opinion at least, barely done much. At least from a fantasy world theory. True, he has spread lots of rumors and stories about himself personnally, but I'd still have expected him to (spoiler)

be completely gone from the school by now, gone off and met the Fay, gotten his new sword, etc. It was halfway through the second book by the time he finally left the school and started doing things. Then he goes back.
It's a great book, just arguing details. :)

Great article! I didn't pick up on a lot of the stuff, especially the bit about Kvothe's mother- I wonder if that will be expanded on later at all.

I liked this book as much as the first and was sad to finish it. Some parts did take me right out of it... I was like uh wait what? *l* but I still liked it a lot. I think he said its going be another couple of years before the next one is out though? *cry*

There is a lot of fun speculation on that link! *s* About K's mom...I need to reread a section of tNotW where he mentioned going to visit family whne he was very small. Someone has mentioned that it contradicts the theory mentioned in the link, so I want to check it out!

Finally finsihed it.

I feel like not much has happened but at the same time so much has happened. There were so many subtle events and clues.

I felt almost the same TASB. And yet, I didn't want the book to end. PR's writing resonates with me.

Just to comment on the last two points: I want to believe that but I don't think he was faking it. Hope you're right though.

I never considered the gift giving having more significance, but I really like this idea!

Just read a very interesting article talking about the prologe of both books and how they relate to changes happening to Kvothe.

Just finished Wise Man Fear's and love love love love it. I'm not sure how this is only going to be a trilogy.

I'm not much of a speculator on a first read, more of a devourer, so it's been interesting reading your thoughts above. This is definitely a series I will be rereading before the next book comes out so that I can think some things through.

There are a few more that I cant think of right now. I dont think we will find out everything in the next book however. Since there will be more in this world after this trilogy.

I finally read it! Took me forever just because the length was off putting, but I managed to read the whole thing in about 10 days. I only neglected the children a little.

I've read the theories on the link posted above. I sure did miss the most obvious theory. Doh!

Am I the only person here who thinks that A Wise Man's Fear was a big let-down from the first book?

We get all the way through the book without making any real progress on the plot.

Even Robert Jordan didn't get bogged down that fast.
