What worries me is not Sanderson's writing speed, but the slowness of the beginning of TSR. I had forgotten that it took them 250 pages to leave the Stone. Jeez...

Ha! You should also worry about how slow lots of The Fires of Heaven can be. ;-p

I had forgotten how cool Gaul is in the early books.

Enter Valan Luca. My life is now complete... making good progress at the moment though. I think I will be done before November 12, 2012.

You have depressed me now. I started my last pre-release re-read of WoT thinking I was going to be cutting it pretty close, based on how long it took me last time. Unfortunately, I was assuming it'd be out at about the same time as the last two were, this year, but after I started, I saw it'd be March. Now I am seeing March-November. I'm at Crossroads of Twilight and it might be more than a year away?? Completely defeats the purpose but I can't stop now. It would be so wrong.

The good thing about spending 4 hours in the air with the only alternative to the menagerie chapters was to read work e-mail is that I got all the way to Samara. Only one more chapter to go until we're back in Cairhien and the storyline that will have plenty of Mat awesomeness.

I don't think I could stand to reread the entire series again so soon after my last which was prior to The Gathering Storm. I am planning on starting with KoD and then the 2 BS books.

On the bright side, the men. plot line brings Uno back into the mix and that's bloody flaming wonderful.

Portugeek - you should read WoT. I'm not a disciple of it or anything (Rhodric is a high priest of WoT and Bubba is his deacon), but it hauled me back into fantasy after a long hiatus and I am very grateful for that.

Honestly, I've read the first four books about four times each since I started the series in 1997. Each time I did a reread it was to remind me of what happened before another book was released. And every time I re-read them, I remember again why I loved them so much the first time around.

The series as whole is a little spotty and starts to get pretty convoluted by the 7th book or so. It was horrible that Jordan got sick and wasn't able to finish it, but Sanderson has done a creditable job of tying things up with the first two of the last three books in the series. Final verdict is still out, and we all know from years of interviews that the final scene was written by the Creator Himself, so I am cautiously optimistic that I will be satisfied with the series as a whole.

I thought the first four books were great, the fifth one was a slog fest, six and seven were very good, eight was good, nine was OK and had some good moments, ten was a snoozer, I honestly can't recall what happened in eleven (which was the last one Jordan wrote entirely), and twelve and thirteen (both Sanderson) have an expected change of voice that some people found really jarring, but didn't bother me that much. I actually found Sanderson's prose and dialog easier to follow - more to the point.

But you really should at least read the first few books.

So the Faile POV in the LoC prologue is killing me. Momentum... is... lost.

**sigh** I would like to start my big re-read but I'm still on the Xanth re-read... just starting the 27th of the 35 published and a 36th book should be released soon as Piers is already writing the 37th. Plus I'm stuck in Skyrim as well... My first playthrough took 290 hours and I am about 150 hours into my second more thorough playthough with lots of added mods.

I know, I know... it is such a terrible life *weg*
