This part of the forum just looked so terribly bleak without any posts so I thought I'd be the first to write post a topic(what do you mean I crave attention? I eat it for breakfast). My first music related question would be, "What is the first song you can remember learning all the words to?"

Mine was One-Eyed One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater.

"Well I saw the thing coming out of the sky
It had one long horn and one big eye
I commenced to shakin' and I said oo-wee
It looks like a purple people eater to me
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
Sure looks good to me

Well, he came down to earth and he lit in a tree
I said mr Purple People Eater don't eat me
I heard him say in a voice so gruff
I wouldn't eat you 'cos you're too tough
It was a one-eyed one-horned flying purple people eater
It sure looks strange to me!"

*lol* it was probably the abc song.

I grew up on my parents' 60's music. I am pretty sure I knew all the words to Don McLean's American Pie by the time I was about six. I also remember working very hard as a little girl to learn all the words to The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald. I think that was Gordon Lightfoot. I love long ballads like that. But I also love just about every other kind of music. I've even learned to like some country music over the last five years or so.

I think the best songs are the ones I can sing (which eliminates a lot of Rap because it just goes to fast for me and I have a hard time understanding the words) and the ones that have interesting lyrics. I'm a huge Bare Naked Ladies fan because they write such clever lyrics. Same for Rush. I need to make a favs thread!

The first song I learned all the words to was...wait I have to lookup the name...Because you loved me by Celine Dion. It was 6th grade, they made us learn the song in sign language to do some crazy show for the parents.

:P

Us LunaRavens LOVE the Barenaked Ladies. I've loved them since the third grade. I remember one very awkward conversation with my third grade teacher infact. I had told another student that I liked Barenaked Ladies, and my teacher didn't know that it was a band...

Good times.

MEATLOAF!!!!

I heart Meatloaf. I saw him in concert summer before last when he released Bat Out of Hell III. I didn't buy the CD, but I just love the original. I like a couple of songs off of II, and I adore his little role in Rocky Horror. *lol*

I _still_ blast Took the Words Right out of My Mouth in my car and sing it at the top of my lungs while smacking out the percussion on my steering wheel. Same with Paradise... *happy sigh* And the title track! and the whole freaking album! *lol*

I'd have to say that the first song I actually made an effort to learn was I Want You by Savage Garden :S
