I'm not sure if this is normal, but the forum is being a tad...well, posesed. No, my computer isn't spraying me with pea soup(though I wish it would as today has been dreadfully boring), but I never seem to able to stay logged in for a good amount of time. It wasn't like this when I first entered the forum, as I could stay signed on for hours. I also was able to log in automatically at each visit. However, these past two weeks I can't seem to automatically log in at all. Not to mention the miserably short amount of time I'm alotted when I do sign-in. I've lost a few posts already because the system logs me out while I'm typing, and when I try to post my reply it erases my work and tells me I'm not logged in. Is this normal, this posessed behavior? Or maybe it had something to do with my interenet settings. In either case, I'm very dumb when it comes to technology and I could use a bit of advice.

*Edit: I was logged out while I wrote the first version of the post and I had to write it again. This is version number two*

First, always make sure you copy your text before you hit reply *lol*. At least that is what I always do to keep from losing work, though I haven't had that problem with the forum lately.

Second, which browser are you using? I'll see if I can get my volunteer web jedi to see if there's something she can do, but I know that's the first question she'll ask.

It is so frustrating, isn't it?

This forum does that to me constantly. It's a problem if you write long posts like I do. So much of my literary genius has been lost to the ether over the years on this board, including a long post about videogames just the other day.

It's just the forum's self defense mechanism, hon ;-)

I'm using internet explore at the present, and I don't think I've ever been on the forums in anything else. I have been learning to copy my longer posts, but there are times when a short post gets erased as well.

I think it's gone beyond that. Maybe the Chat Monster has found his way into the forum.

There may be a problem with the cookie settings..... see:

http://www.phpbb.com/kb/article/fixing-incorrect-cookie-settings/

quick snippet from the article:

Quote:

Fixing incorrect cookie settings

Do you have always problems with staying logged in in your board? Most likely your Cookie settings are incorrect.

These are the details from the auto-login cookie that the site has set for me:

Quote:
Name phpbb2mysql_data
Value **snipped out cos it's long and irrelevant**
Host www.fantasyfreaks.org
Path /
Secure No
Expires Thu, 08 Oct 2009 18:30:56 GMT

I've not really used phpbb much so I don't know how significant this is, but.... according to the article, you might be missing a period/full stop before the host value in the cookie. The article tells you how to update the cookie settings, if you need more help I can probably do a walk through in more detail or do it for you....

and if that doesn't solve it I'll look further

I wasn't going to get that technical but I was going to suggest checking cookie settings. Personally I think IE is evil and I refuse to use it. Even my blog renders in Firefox 10X better then in IE. I've got script that IE won't load at all, and don't get me started on the amount of spyware difference.

Louis, what is your title supposed to be? I had no idea what you were talking about when you picked your title so I probably accidently misspelled it. You should have told me, silly!
