I just finished reading The Black Prism and The Blinding Knife back to back. Good stuff! Not going to get spoilery but the characters were good- shades of grey in all of them - and the magic system was pretty cool. Great world building. The second book I thought was better but I think that's because the story finally got ramped up.

There were a few times where I thought, "hey that was in Empire Strikes Back," or , " Hey! Didn't I see that on an episode of *insert nerd TV reference here?*" but that was balanced by enough original twists to keep me hooked. I think these would make amazing movies if Joss Whedon wanted to direct. Ok. I guess your mom's grocery list would be amazing if Joss directed it but still. The books had a lot of Big Screen Action/Adventure moments in a good way.

Anyone else read these yet? The third book is due out in August I think. YAY I'm excited!

I got to the end of the first one and got caught up with some hustling and never got back to it. need to get back to the name of the wind and finish that. also need to read the last book in the acacia trilogy. currently playing tales of symphonia right now on wii and totally hooked to that. such an awesome story so far. the story is so deep.

I liked his Night Angel series a lot, but liked this one even more. Definitely looking forward to the next book! The magic system took a little getting used to but it is interesting and unique.

Broken Eye is out today in the US! This is my current favorite series, I seriously considered calling in to work sick to read all day ;)

How many books are planned for the series? This is one I have on my to-read list, but don't want to start until it is complete!

Was originally going to be a trilogy but now it is four. He says it takes him two years to write a book :x but maybe he has already started the fourth if it was originally three? *fingers crossed*

Looks interesting, but Brandon Sanderson's assistant, Peter, recommended it, which makes me instantly suspicious.

No spoilers......
I was reading Broken Eye at a normal pace like a chapter or two a night but then all of a sudden a little past halfway I could not put the book down and ended up reading basically the whole second half in a night! The plot twists were great and you get to know the characters better too. Kip has got to be now one of my top favorite characters. I can't wait to see what happens next and how things unfold.

I hope the next plot twist is a real life one where Brent Weeks finishes up the final book ahead of schedule.

What Megaret said! Good fun! Excellent spectrum (see what I did there Meg?) of characters-brilliant to batsh!t crazy and they were all richly layered. I'll repeat my former observation of lovely shades of gray which keeps you guessing who the good guys really are sometimes. I also had a hard time putting it down as evidenced by the bags under my eyes!

No spoilers here but if there gets to be a spoilery discussion about these books in the future I have a couple questions.

Megaret I also agree about Kip.

You can create a spoiler thread to discuss the series. :-)

I think I will read this one next, once I am finished with my re-read of the October Daye series.
