Anyone read 'Blood song' by Anthony Ryan? It has lots of five star reviews on Amazon but If life has taught me one thing it's 'never trust a five star review on Amazon.

I read and liked it, but didn't think it deserved the glowing reviews it has received in various places. A solid debut, and I will read the second one when it comes out eventually. I am not eagerly anticipating it like I am other books. Everyone's taste differs though. *s*

I may give it a go then, Alle. Thanks for the advice. What are the books that you are really looking forward to?

So far 2014 is looking a little less exciting than 2013, but:

1. Skin Game - Jim Butcher I am a huge Harry Dresden fan, so this book is the one I am looking forward to the most
2. The next in the October Daye series (cannot remember the title) - Seanan McGuire
3. Broken Homes - Ben Aaronovitch The Peter Grant series is so far been very entertaining
4. Dreamwalker - C.S. Friedman
5.Dust and Light - Carol Berg

Others following would be Broken Eye by Brent Weeks, Severed Streets by Paul Cornell, the next in the Black Sun's Daughter series by MLN Hanover (no idea if one will be out in 2014 though) and the next Dagger and Coin book by Daniel Abraham as well as the next Anthony Ryan.

If there was a release date for Patrick Rothfuss' next book,, it would be at the top of my list, but hopes for a 2014 release are pretty dim. He seems to suffer from GRRMitis.

Tower Lord, the next book in the Raven Shadow's Blood Song series is finally out!

I love this author's success story. The first book was self published and was so good that word of mouth traveled basically so that the series got picked up by a real publisher and he got to quit his day job :) The only bad part about getting picked by a real publisher was that they re-released the original book, even though the second book was already written and then they waited another year to release the second... but now its here!
