1 cup All Purpose Flour
3/4 cup white sugar
6 table spoons Hershey's (or any brand, really) Baking Cocoa (not chocolate; the powdery kind of cocoa)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup packed brown sugar (light or dark doesn't matter, but don't use the granular kind)
1 & 1/3 cups hot water
In a medium sized bowl combine the flour, white sugar, baking powder, salt and 2 of the 6 tbs of baking cocoa, leaving you with 4 unused tbs.
Stir in milk, vanilla, and oil until smooth
Spread into an ungreased 8x8 pan
In a separate bowl combine brown sugar and the remaining 4 tbs of cocoa. Sprinkle over the batter and pour the hot water over all of it. Very important: Do Not Stir!!!
Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes
The water, brown sugar, and cocoa makes a yummy hot fudge sauce that sinks through the batter to the bottom, so that the fudge sauce is on teh bottom.... It makes the bottom a bit mushy, and it's a very rich chocolate, but with vanilla ice cream, it is gooooood! :o) The only thing I've ever made from scratch. Yummy!
